Organizing the kitchen can transform it from a source of frustration into a place where you can genuinely maximize your output. I’d rather make food I truly enjoy eating than waste one second looking for that tool that I need but can’t find. Here are some practical tips to help you streamline your kitchen:

Group Like Items

Keep similar items together for easy access. This means:

  • Mixing bowls: Stack them in a cupboard.
  • Serving platters: Store them vertically or in a designated area.
  • Canned food: Arrange by type or frequency of use.
  • Spices: Use a spice rack or drawer organizer.
  • Tupperware: Stack containers with their lids in a nearby bin.

Create More Space

Maximize your kitchen’s potential by utilizing vertical space:

  • Look up: Install hooks under shelves to hang mugs.
  • Risers: Use shelf risers to stack dishes and maximize cabinet space.

Hang It

For bulky items like pots and pans:

  • Ceiling or wall-mounted racks: These keep pots and pans within easy reach and free up cabinet space.
  • Lid holders: Install these on the inside of cabinet doors to store lids vertically, saving space and reducing clutter.

Containerize

Organize pantry items by grouping and labeling:

  • Tall weave plastic baskets: Use these to store grouped items like rice or pasta.
  • Tupperware: Keep dry goods in clearly marked, airtight containers to maintain freshness and order.
