Getting a grip on our sometimes challenging relationship with time can seem daunting. You get a system in place, and things go well for a while, then suddenly, a wrench is thrown into the wheel. We all know what that’s like! I promise that with commitment, flexibility, and a willingness to be open to new strategies, we can improve our relationship with time.
Try these 7 steps for creating a healthy relationship with ‘time’.
- Accept that some days you will ‘fly by the seat of your pants.’
- Be confident that your efforts to schedule everything into your ‘calendar’ and ‘tasks’ will pay off.
- Know that sometimes you lose momentum, and your systems should support you.
- Pick what works for you. Set it up and continue to refine it.
- Don’t believe people who say they don’t need a calendar to remember appointments. If they don’t, they aren’t that busy!
- You don’t need to buy fancy time-management software. Use what came with your computer.
- Schedule everything in your Calendar or Tasks. I mean everything.
When it comes to adopting new strategies for time management, it can take a while to get used to new methods and see the benefits. The key is to keep working on it. Don’t let small setbacks discourage the whole effort. Also remember, you don’t have to do it alone!
